A plain-language guide to care online

What brought you here?

Virtual peptide clinics, with room for questions.

You do not have to pick a medicine before you understand the care. Start with what you want help with. Let the questions come before the decision.

What does “peptide” mean?

Think of a peptide as tiny parts joined into a short chain, much like beads threaded on a string. Those same parts form proteins, which are longer chains.

The name alone tells you nothing about a product’s approval or safety.

Can care online be real?

Telehealth means speaking to a clinician, a health professional, by phone or video, or exchanging information online.

A state medical board is the public body that gives doctors permission to practise, called a licence.

The boards’ national group advises that care online must meet the same standard as care given in person.

As of September 2026, the state you are in for the visit must allow the doctor to practise there, either by licence or another permitted route.

The exact medicine matters

An FDA-approved medicine has been reviewed for a stated use by the Food and Drug Administration.

Semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) is a peptide medicine with US approval for uses such as diabetes treatment or weight loss, as of September 2026.

Compounding is the name for a pharmacy or doctor making medicine to order.

As of September 2026, no compounded medicine has FDA approval. Before sale, the agency does not assess each product for how well it is made, whether it works, or whether it is safe.

Retatrutide and cagrilintide are drug ingredients; as of September 2026, neither has an FDA-approved use. Neither ingredient has been shown to be safe and effective for treating any condition.

Retatrutide is being studied to help people lose weight, according to the September 2026 records.

As of September 2026, the FDA says pharmacies and doctors are barred by federal law from using retatrutide or cagrilintide to make medicines to order.

Ask for the exact name of any proposed medicine. Then ask why it fits your need.

Which question is on your mind?

Maybe a video caught your eye. Maybe you are comparing options. What would you like a clinician to understand first?

  • What happens before a prescription?
  • How can I check the people and pharmacy involved?
  • What will the whole plan cost?

Brief source note

Approval concerns the medicine. A licence concerns permission to practise. State rules decide who may treat you online.
