How much can a source actually tell me?

# Read the source behind the claim.

Look for the exact medicine, the use being discussed, and the date. Then check which question the document can answer.

## Approval: a particular product and use

FDA-approved describes a specific medicine that the Food and Drug Administration reviewed for its stated use.

Preparing medicine to order is called compounding, and a pharmacy or doctor does this work.

As of September 2026, that approval review has not taken place for a compounded medicine.

## Online care: advice and state rules

The Federation of State Medical Boards offers guidance to the boards overseeing doctors.

That document gives advice about good care, rather than one nationwide law. Each state sets its own laws and board rules for online care.

In September 2026, state rules still differ on online forms and phone-only visits.

## A licence: check the actual record

A doctor’s licence record shows whether they have permission to practise and any steps the medical board has made public over a broken rule. These steps can include limits on the doctor’s work. A record with no such entries does not prove good care.

## Problem reports: a signal, not proof

Reports to the FDA describe problems people had while using a medicine. They do not prove the medicine caused those problems.

A health professional may not have checked the details in a report. Counting reports cannot tell you how common a problem is. That would mean knowing how many people had it out of everyone who used the medicine. A report total alone is not that comparison.

## Prices: read the terms beside the figure

The same medicine can have different prices for cash pay, insurance, or a savings card.

For many cash offers and savings cards reviewed in September 2026, the stated end date was December 31, 2026.

Ask what the price covers and when the offer ends.

## Read for the question in front of you

A licence, an approval, a problem report, and a price answer different questions. Keep the exact medicine and the date beside each answer.
